Why folks make the drive

Worth the trip from Durham.

Hey there, Durham! If you're tired of the same old spots around Research Triangle Park or looking for a change of pace from the city's hustle, we'd sure love to welcome you up to Eden. We know it's a bit of a drive from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, but folks tell us it's worth the trip for a taste of real Southern cooking, done right. We've been serving up hearty meals since 2001, and our kitchen's always got something good on the stove. You'll find everything from our famous hand-cut steaks, cooked just like you like 'em on the flat top, to a daily lunch buffet that changes every single day. And don't even get us started on the homemade cobblers, baked fresh every morning at 4 a.m. If you're looking for a meal that feels like Sunday dinner at Grandma's, you've come to the right place. We're proud of what we do, and we think you'll feel it in every bite. Ready to plan your visit?

What's worth driving for

Three plates worth the drive.

Eight ounces of sirloin tips with peppers and onions
Sirloin Tips
Our signature Sirloin Tips plate is a local favorite. We hand-cut the sirloin, cook it just right with peppers and onions, and it's a dish folks from Durham tell us they don't find quite like it back home.
Hand-breaded fried chicken plate at The Sirloin House in Eden, NC
Fresh Fried Chicken
Our fried chicken is a real taste of the South. Each piece is hand-breaded and fried fresh to a golden crisp, making it a comforting, classic choice for anyone driving up from Durham.
Peach cobbler baked from scratch at 4 a.m.
Homemade Cobbler
You haven't truly finished a meal until you've had a slice of our homemade cobbler. Baked fresh at 4 a.m. every day, flavors like peach, strawberry, and apple are worth the drive alone.

The drive from Durham.

Getting to us from Durham is a pretty straightforward shot. You'll mostly be hopping on I-85 North, then making your way onto US-29 North towards Reidsville and Eden. The drive usually takes about 90 minutes, depending on the time of day and what traffic's doing around the city limits. We often see folks from Durham coming in around noon for our lunch buffet, or making it a weekend trip for breakfast. Once you get closer to Eden, you'll take the NC-14 exit and head into town. Our spot is easy to find, right there on South Van Buren Road. It's a nice, scenic drive once you get out of the city, and a good chance to unwind before you settle in for a good meal. Just give yourself a little extra time if you're hitting the road during peak commute hours.

When to roll in.

If you're making the drive from Durham, we recommend aiming for our lunch buffet, which runs Sunday-Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It's a great value at $11.99 and lets you sample a bit of everything. For breakfast, we're open Sunday-Friday 7-11 a.m. and Saturday 7 a.m.-1 p.m. The breakfast crowd can be pretty lively on weekends, so if you're looking for a quieter start, try coming around 9:30 a.m. Dinner is full menu service, and we don't have a dinner buffet. What else to see in Eden.

Making the drive from Durham means you've got a chance to explore a bit of Eden while you're here. We're nestled right between the Smith River and the Dan River, so if you enjoy a little outdoors time, you might like Freedom Park or a walk along the riverbanks. Eden itself has a rich history, formed in 1967 by the merger of the old mill towns of Leaksville, Spray, and Draper. You can still see some of that historic mill town character in the architecture. It's a slower pace than Durham, for sure, and offers a glimpse into a different side of North Carolina. It's a nice way to make your trip a little more than just a meal, turning it into a pleasant half-day outing.
