The Sirloin House
Hop on NC-770 and you'll be here in about 16 minutes, ready for some good Southern cooking and a friendly face.
Hey Mayodan neighbors — this one’s a little personal. Johnny opened his very first restaurant, Johnny Steak & Seafood, right there in Mayodan back in ’99. That’s where he learned to cook in front of a whole room before bringing it home to Eden in October 2001. So when folks from Mayodan drive over to The Sirloin House, it really does feel like family stopping by. We're a family place, through and through, where you can always count on a hearty meal without a fuss. Many of our regulars from Mayodan swear by our daily lunch buffet, saying it reminds them of Sunday dinner at grandma's, or they come for our hand-cut steaks, cooked just right on the flat top. We're not far at all, and it's always worth the short trip for a taste of real Southern hospitality. Let us tell you a little more about what's waiting for you.
The kitchen, midweek

When you walk through our doors, you'll feel right at home. It's a cheerful, bustling kind of place, especially during the lunch rush. You'll see families gathered in the booths, friends catching up over coffee, and folks making their way through the buffet line. The air usually carries the comforting smells of fried chicken, fresh vegetables, and warm yeast rolls. We keep it clean and comfortable, a place where you can relax and enjoy good company and good food without any pretense. It's the kind of place where you might just hear the clinking of forks and the gentle murmur of friendly conversation.
Breakfast buffet
Getting to us from Mayodan is pretty straightforward. You'll want to head east on NC-770, which is a straight shot right into Eden. You'll pass a few familiar landmarks like the old textile mills and some pretty stretches of road before you hit town. Most folks make the drive without a hitch in about 16 minutes. If you're coming for our famous breakfast buffet, the early birds are usually here by 7 AM, but it thins out nicely after 9:30 AM if you prefer a quieter start. For lunch, the buffet crowd picks up around noon, but we've got plenty of space. We're right on South Van Buren Road, easy to spot once you're in Eden.
With just a 16-minute drive from Mayodan, you've got plenty of options for when to visit. Our breakfast buffet runs Sunday to Friday from 7 AM to 11 AM, and until 1 PM on Saturdays, perfect for a leisurely weekend start. The lunch buffet is served Sunday to Friday from 11 AM to 3 PM, offering a different spread daily. We don't have a dinner buffet, but our full menu is available evenings. Parking is free and there’s usually plenty of space right at the building. Walk-ins are always welcome for small tables, but if you're bringing a bigger group, say eight or more, it’s a good idea to call ahead at 336-623-7778 so we can be ready for you.
While you're over in Eden, there's a few other things worth seeing if you've got a little extra time. Eden sits right where the Smith River meets the Dan River, so there are some nice spots to walk along the water or just enjoy the view, like Freedom Park. Our town has a rich history, formed in '67 from the merger of Leaksville, Spray, and Draper, and you can still see that old mill town character in some of the older buildings. It’s a good place for a peaceful afternoon, maybe a walk through a local park or a peek into some of the small shops. It’s a nice way to round out your visit from Mayodan.
